Dr. Myriam Savage (Mimi) is an Associate professor in the Master’s of Counseling Psychology and Expressive Therapies program and a core faculty member at California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS) in San Francisco. She has published on the topic of drama therapy and its uses for diverse populations including adopted young women from foster care–her expertise, and she has presented at numerous conferences in the U.S.
A founding faculty member of the UCLArts and Healing SEA program, Dr. Savage is also director of her own internationally attended drama therapy school, SoCal Drama Therapy Center where she mentors clinicians on becoming certified drama therapists. Over the years, she has created and directed drama and expressive therapy programs in acute in-patient settings and has facilitated various acute populations as well as clients who are neurodiverse; both in forensic settings and educational settings. Dr. Savage was on the board of the North American Drama Therapy Association serving as the former Education Chair and heralds an outreach program to generate drama therapists from Historically Black Colleges and Universities. She is a graduate of Princeton University, Cal State University Los Angeles, Lesley University as well as The Neighborhood Playhouse Conservatory, NYC.
